The diverse and harmonious island community of Saba, with its whimsical charm, now boasts an impressive Windmill; located in the Behind the Ridge hamlet. Standing tall at 35 ft, allowing for tremendous views.

With a labor of love enthusiasm, the owners started the construction project in 2015, and from the onset took advantage of natural stone for durability, beauty and the significant reduction in maintenance. The stone forming the outer taper of the building is 2 ft and 6 inches wide, while the interior is constructed with 8-inch concrete blocks reinforced with steel rebar. Expert waterproofing is applied between the natural stone and concrete block.

The roof is made of fiberglass and is sectional, with tubular steel supports around the circumference at 4 levels. The Mill is constructed on 3 levels.

• The top level contains the steel shaft for the sails.
• Level 2 is the bedroom and bathroom.
• Entry level you will find the kitchen, dining, and lounge area.

A floating staircase allows access between the lower level and second level, which both have 10 ft high ceilings.

The sails – Each sail is 20 ft long, they are made of steel, galvanized, and the four main shafts are coated in fiberglass. Each sail is in two sections bolted together. The main shaft and supporting base for the sails is made of steel weighing 1.8 tons. This is secured to concrete beams, with metal plates and bolts.

The land surrounding the Mill includes:

• A below-ground cistern collecting rainwater from the mill roof and cistern top
  (the cistern holds 15,500 gallons of water)
• Garden lawn with tropical shrubs and trees
• Stone walls, stepping stones, and pillars to match The Mill residence
• Outdoor shower cubicle (featuring hot and cold temperatures)
• A lovely patio setting for alfresco dining
• A concrete platform for a vehicle, accessed through double gates

The size of the plot would allow for additional buildings if desired.
