From the spacious covered wooden verandah, that spans the length of the cottage, you overlook 180 degrees of undulating tropical vegetation, the Road as it snakes down the mountain and the charming traditional red roofed houses and buildings of The Bottom, Saba’s capital. Beyond, set between two hills that frame the Bottom, the mesmerizing view continues, filled with a wide expanse of turquoise Caribbean Sea, endless blue sky and billowing white trade wind clouds. Sailing ships peacefully glide by on their way to the outer islands. It is like a magical painting from sunrise to sunset.

Although you are away from it all, you are just a short walk to the lovely Queens Garden Hotel and its amenities including a well-regarded restaurant, charming pool facilities and a fabulous spa. For the intrepid, continue to walk into The Bottom for afternoon tea or a bit of shopping.

The 1200 square foot house is only a few years old, yet feels quite at home on Troy Hill. Stone stairs gently lead you down to the verandah and entrance to the cottage. The interiors are airy, light and spacious topped by soaring beamed cathedral ceilings in natural wood. The open concept great room contains the kitchen with granite countertops, dishwasher, washer and dryer and wooden cabinetry. Adjacent to the kitchen is the dining area and large living room with satellite TV. Sliding glass doors bring in light and the stunning 180 degree views. The space is furnished in an eclectic mix of contemporary black leather and Indonesian teak pieces.

Two spacious and light filled bedrooms feature cathedral ceilings and large clothes closets. Each has an ensuite bathroom with walk in shower. The cottage also has a small powder room. The master bedroom opens to the verandah with outdoor seating to enjoy the view with your morning coffee or sunset cocktail.

The cottage is a perfect spot for a tropical island getaway from the hectic world or for year round living. The cottage is quite self-contained including hurricane shutters. You are close to civilization, yet totally secluded and private.
