Hibiscus Cottage

Hibiscus Cottage, in the heart of Windwardside Village, is a charming and peaceful location from which to explore Saba. Or you can chose to simply sit on the front porch or sun on the back lawn and enjoy a complete respite from the hectic world. When approaching the cottage you assume this is an exquisite renovation of a traditional Saban cottage. It is, however, completely new construction built around the chimney from the property’s original 100 old cottage. As the cottage was beyond salvage, the St Maarten based owners replicated their beloved Saban vernacular with true authenticity use modern building methods. The exterior has all the classic Saban details; red metal roof, green and white shutters, clapboard siding, stone walls and terraces and the most gorgeous, mature tropical gardens. A spacious veranda filled with comfortable white wicker furniture affords a restful view of the lush gardens of the museum across the lane, the majestic Mount Scenery as well as the poetic cottages and gardens that dot the surrounding landscape. Although you are in the heart of the village, you feel complete private and removed from the world.

The interiors are open, spacious and filled with light. Doors open wide to let in the beautiful views of the gardens, the museum ground and the cooling Saban breezes. The large living and dining area is filled with comfortable seating and entertaining spaces. A fully equipped modern kitchen, which incorporates the old kitchen chimney, is a perfect place to prepare meals from a simple breakfast to a gourmet dinner.  There is an easy flow from the kitchen out to the adjacent oversized patio. A LPG gas barbeque provides a perfect surface to prepare an alfresco dining experience.

The cottage has two large bedrooms each with tastefully appointed en suite bathrooms featuring walk in showers. Each bedroom has air conditioning, ceiling fans and flat screen TVs. One bedroom contains a DVD player. Each bedroom is flexible. The beds can be arranged as a king or two doubles with advanced notice. This allows for several configurations including two couples; a couple with two children or four friends.

Hibiscus Cottage is in the heart of Windwardside village and just steps from the restaurants, shops, outdoor and indoor activities such as hiking, yoga or a massage and grocery shopping. This lovely home is also a wonderful base for simply strolling around the village for your daily walk and the opportunity to  meet the friendly locals.
