Enter the property through a little picket gate and down a stone garden path. This atmosphere is that of a very private place away from the bustle of civilization, yet convenient to the island’s charming amenities.
The views are stunning. Below are the fairytale island airport and ocean waves crashing on the rugged volcanic rocks. Straight ahead, exquisitely manicured tropical cottage gardens frame the endless sea views. On the horizon are the peaks and valleys of St Maarten, Anguilla, St Barth’s, St Eustatius, Nevis, and St Kitts and on a very clear day all the way to Montserrat. It is a perfect painting of a Saba view.
The cottages is classic Saba vernacular replete with red zinc roof, original green and white chimney, Dutch doors, green trim and shutters plus white cedar shingles. Native stone forms the foundation and perimeter garden walls. The tile terrace sits in front of the cottage providing a serene perch where one can enjoy the front garden and sea views. Behind the cottage, the misty slopes of Mont Scenery rise into view from the gardens.
Every corner of this well-loved land and cottage are kept in pristine and expertly maintained condition by the current owners. The wife is an impassioned master gardener. Colorful touches inside the cottage reflect the riot of natural color outside. The living spaces are contained in the two bedroom main cottage and spacious studio guest cottage. Both spaces are filled with beautiful tropical light reflecting off white walls touched with colorful accents. The cottage front has two entrances; one for the sitting area and one for the kitchen/dining area.
The fully equipped kitchen, overlooking the back garden, is decorated in a mix of natural wood and color. The dining area and sitting room are set off the kitchen. Fabulous sea views flow through the sitting room’s windows and door. The light filled master bedroom fits a king bed and features an en suite bathroom in white with pops of tropical color. A separate room provides a private space for an office. The studio guest cottage sits on the slope just above the main cottage. Surrounded by lovely gardens, the interior is a comfortable oasis for visitors. A cool tropical outdoor shower connects the main cottage and guest studio to the glorious Caribbean sky and gentle trade winds that cool the air.
